The Heroes of Vietnam: 
A Living Tribute to The Soldiers Who Fought There

 

This guide, The Heroes of Vietnam - A Living Tribute to The Soldiers Who Fought There, is designed to enable students to create a living history of the local heroes from their state who sacrificed their lives during the Vietnam War. It can also be used as a basis for learning about and honoring the heroes of all wars.

 

The activities include the background and history of the Vietnam War and the cultural backdrop of the 1960s. It gives students tools to help them gather information from friends and relatives of American soldiers who lost their lives in the war.

 

Based on the success of a program developed by Tom Dzicek, a middle school teacher, the activities can be used by middle and high school students in social studies, language arts, music, science, and art classes.
